Instant Network – Greece

LinkedINLinkedIN

The Vodafone Netherlands Foundation was founded in 2002 with the aim of offering solutions for public issues in the area of health and wellbeing, using mobile communication technology. ‘Instant Network’ is one of these projects, whereby the mobile network is recovered in areas where a (natural) disaster has occurred. It allows disaster victims and aid workers are to use their mobile phones soon after the disaster.

When VodafoneZiggo’s Jeroen Aanraad and Harm Kanters travelled to a refugee camp in March 2017, to set up an Instant WiFi network, VodafoneZiggo was keen to make a video. Unfortunately we were not granted permission to film in the refugee camp, so we had to come up with a creative solution to tell the story.

We chose to shift the focus from the refugee camp in Greece onto VodafoneZiggo giving its employees the opportunity to get involved with projects with social impact. We followed Jeroen and Harm in the development of Instant WiFi, which used Vodafone software and Ziggo hardware. Jeroen and Harm were briefed on making photos and videos during their trip to Greece, which could be used in addition to the main footage.
